Back to school

Yes, that’s correct!  For a short time at least.  Hubby and I were selected for the Empowered to Connect Train-the-Trainer course, which we just started this week.  It’s an 8-week program that will equip us to lead local adoptive and foster parents through Empowered to Connect parent trainings.  We are grateful for the opportunity to share a healing and connected parenting style for children from hard places.  Though we certainly don’t get it right all the time, Dr. Purvis’ principles have completely reshaped how we parent all of our children.  We’ve seen tremendous growth in our two youngest children especially, and the principles have helped us parent more compassionately too!

It’s an intense 8 weeks of study that culminates in a 3-day in-person training with Empowered to Connect staff.  So for the rest of the summer, hubby and I will probably have one of these resources with us wherever we go.  Though I’ve read most of them already, I’m looking forward to reading them again through “trainer eyes.”  I’m praying the Lord will do wonderful things through all of the couples who are taking this course with us!

Libbe - That is wonderful! I so wish my husband and I had the opportunity to take the Empowered to Connect class! Unfortunately, there are no classes scheduled nearby. I know it would totally transform our parenting.ReplyCancel

Nicole Renée - We are traveling a bit to do this class as well. Check into the simulcast in April – there may be a location near you that’s broadcasting it, or maybe you could see if your church would be willing to host a simulcast location?ReplyCancel
